Claus Hinrich S o n n t a g, b. 19.09.1745 in Hamburg, d. 04.12.1818 in Hamburg, son of the carpenter Christian Rudolph Sonntag and Ursula Elisabeth Pampe.
1770 marriage to Sophia Magdalena Kopp (1747-1792), daughter of a civil servant at the 'Krameramt'. The fifth child, Johanna Cornelia Sonntag (1788-1820), weds 1816 in Hamburg the lawyer Carl Friedrich de Boor.

[...] "Die zweite Gattin meines Großvaters war Johanna Cornelia Sonntag, Tochter des Hamburger Senators Claus Hinrich Sonntag und der Sophia Magdalena Kopp. Sie ist die Stammutter meines Geschlechts. Leider ist von ihr nur eine Silhouette als ewiges Gedenkzeichen übrig geblieben. Auch mein Vater, der ein halbes Jahr alt war als sie starb, schien von seiner Mutter nichts zu wissen, und mir fehlt jede Möglichkeit von anderen Nachkommen des Senators Sonntag, falls solche noch vorhanden sind, etwas über sie in Erfahrung zu bringen. Mein Vater hat – wie das so häufig geschieht – seit seiner Verheiratung keinen Verkehr mit den Verwandten seiner Mutter, den Sonntags, Suses, Heinichens, Jacobis etc. gehabt, und auch vorher werden sich die Beziehungen zu ihnen schon sehr gelockert haben, da an ihre Stelle naturgemäß die Beziehungen zu den Verwandten der dritten Frau meines Großvaters traten."
